Faculty and graduate students in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese enjoy state of the art laboratories in which to conduct their research:

The Second Language Acquisition and Bilingualism Lab (SLAB), located in G70 in the basement of the Foreign Languages Building, is fully equipped to facilitate research on psycholinguistic aspects of second language acquisition. Dr. Silvina Montrul is the Lab Director.

The Illinois Phonetics and Phonology Lab houses up-to-date equipment to support recording, computing, and experiments in aerodynamics. It is located in G90 in the basement of the Foreign Languages Building. Dr. Ryan Shosted is the Lab Director.
