This course aims to address and complicate the body as a category and material of representation in Latin American culture in the 20th and 21st centuries. Through novels, short stories, movies, and performances, we will analyze how the body is thought of and written from diverse embodiments that defy the hegemonic construction of the body, such as bodies with disabilities, plus size, sick, or racialized bodies. Likewise, we will consider other possibilities of questioning the materiality and limits of the body regarding its relations with nature and technology.
El cuerpo latinoamericano
Este curso busca abordar y problematizar el cuerpo como categoría y materia de representación en la cultura latinoamericana del siglo XX y XXI. A partir de novelas, cuentos, películas y performance, analizaremos cómo el cuerpo se piensa y escribe desde diversas corporalidades que desafían la construcción del cuerpo hegemónico como los cuerpos con discapacidad, gordos, queer, enfermos y racializados. Así mismo, nos preguntaremos por otras posibilidades de pensar la materialidad del cuerpo y sus límites frente a las relaciones con la naturaleza y tecnología.
