Our very recent alumna Dr. Liz Moreno-Chuquen (Ph.D. 2019) has been awarded a very competitive 2021 NEH Summer Stipend for her project, “Visual Narratives of Afroporteños: Presence and Social Prestige in Alexander Witcomb’s Photographic Archive.” In this project Liz focuses on a photographic collection by this British photographer who arrived in Argentina in 1835 and produced around 500,000 photos which are housed in the Archivo General de la Nación in Buenos Aires. Liz conducted her archival work in 2018 when she was a student with us. We are very happy to celebrate her continuing success!

Congratulations Liz!
