We are thrilled to announce that PhD student Eider Etxebarria-Zuluaga (Spanish Linguistics) has been awarded the prestigious NSF Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Award (DDRI) for her Dissertation Research: “Subject Expression in Spanish in Contact with Basque and in Spanish-Basque Bilingualism.” Eider is working under the direction of Prof. Silvina Montrul who also is part of the grant submission.

This is one of the most competitive external grants that a graduate student can receive at the doctoral level as it goes through six highly rigorous external reviews. This NSF program awards projects that are interdisciplinary in methodological or theoretical perspective, and that address questions that also cross disciplinary boundaries. The NSF grant will cover Eider’s research expenses.

 ¡Felicidades Eider y Silvina!
