Megan Gargiulo (PhD Spanish) has been awarded the coveted IPRH Prize for Best Graduate Student Research for her essay “Debility and Domination in Recogimientos de mujeres in Late Colonial Mexico”.

The essay is based on her dissertation which she is completing under the guidance of her advisor Prof. Mariselle Meléndez. This is a highly competitive prize that recognizes excellence in humanities scholarship at the University of Illinois. Submission for this prestigious prize are accepted from scholars in all sectors of the university with a focus on the humanities and humanities-inflected research.
