Anthony M Pasquariello Award Fund

Established in 1994 as the Barcelona Program Scholarship fund, this award was renamed in 1999 for Professor Pasquariello who established our department's Barcelona Study Abroad program and a scholarship endowment for students studying in Barcelona. This award is intended for students who have been accepted in the Barcelona Year Abroad program.

Paul Borgeson Memorial Fund

Paul W. Borgeson was a professor of Latin American literature in the Department of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese from 1981 until his death in 1999. Paul’s family, his wife, Mary, and his children, Jennifer and David, endowed this scholarship in Paul’s memory to honor his career and to encourage like-minded undergraduates to study in the countries of Central and South America.

Alvaro Monserrat Llarden Scholarship in Catalan Studies Fund

To offer a scholarship in support of the study of Catalan language, linguistics, literature, and culture. This award is open to any student, undergraduate or graduate, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Requirements are that the recipient engage first and foremost in the study of the Catalan language and, after language study has begun, that the recipient take at least one course per semester in which Catalan language, linguistics, literature, or culture are included.
